"THE LLAMAS- NEPOMUCENOS OF PAMPANGA" OF THE VILLASENOR CLAN OF LUCBAN

Here is an article that I wrote in 2003 for "The Villaseñor Clan of Lucban," the souvenir book for the First Grand Reunion of the Villaseñor Clan. The Nepomucenos of Angeles City trace their paternal ancestry to Manila and Pagsanjan, Laguna; and their maternal ancestry to Lucban, Quezon. The article, which is rather long, first traces the origins of the family, and then their involvement in the political affairs of Angeles City as well as Pampanga. It ends with current crop of Nepomuceno politicians. Thank you very much for reading.
"THE NEPOMUCENOS OF PAMPANGA"
The Nepomucenos of Pampanga, particularly of Angeles City, are descended from the spouses Pio Rafael Nepomuceno (1817-1858) and Agustina Henson (1828-1905).
Pio was born on 11 July 1817 in Manila to the spouses Don Pasqual Nepomuceno (ca 1790-1821) and Doña Salvadora Villaseñor (1798-1847). Don Pasqual was the son of the spouses Don Estevan de la Cruz and Doña Leonarda Franzisca Justa Llamas, both of Pagsanjan, Laguna, and was one of the rare native lawyers of the Supreme Court (abogado de matricula de la Real Audiencia). Doña Salvadora was the daughter of the spouses Don Antonio Serapion Villaseñor and Doña Rosa de los Angeles, who belonged to probably the most influential clan of 19th-century Lucban, Tayabas (now Quezon).
Agustina was born on 28 August 1828 in Culiat, San Fernando, Pampanga, to the spouses Dr Don Mariano Henson, LLD (ca 1798-1848) and Doña Juana Ildefonsa de Miranda (ca 1803-1845). Don Mariano was the son of the spouses Don Severino Henson and Doña Placida Paras, and was the first Filipino lay Doctor of Laws, graduating from the University of Santo Tomas in 1824. Doña Juana was the only daughter of the spouses Don Angel Pantaleon de Miranda and Doña Rosalia de Jesus, the founders of the town of Angeles in 1829. At an early age, Agustina was adopted by the childless spouses Don Ciriaco de Miranda, her uncle and the first gobernadorcillo (mayor) of Angeles; and Doña Carlota de Leon, the daughter of Dr Don Pedro Leon de Arzega, PhD, the first Filipino layman to obtain a Doctorate.
