  1. While growing up in Or. Mindoro, I thought we were the only Llamas in the world. My classmates could not pronounce my surname correctly. They pronounced it YAMAS-- and in our province it means the sapal of the coconut where milk was already extracted.
As a little girl, I would always grew furious when they would tease me YAMAS, YAMAS! I remember I chased a classmate with a 4 inch nail when he called me so. Afterwhich, I was silently wishing Llamas was not my name. Sigh.
As I grew, I'd known lots of Llamases (including the Andes mountain variety hehehe).
I had Spanish class in high school and was very proud to conjugate the verb "llamar"-- yo llamo, tu llamas, el, ella, usted llama, nosotros llamamos, vosotros llamais, ella, ellos ustedes llaman!
    And Llamas is my name!
Until now, as a speaker of a health supplement company, I would always insist they introduce me as Emmie Llamas-Cruz--- never mind mentioning I was a former registrar or principal in some private schools. I just want to be introduced as EMMIE LLAMAS-CRUZ...
