Dentro del periodo de 1509 a 1577 solamente llego en 1526 una familia de apellido LLAMAS a la Nueva España, que fue la de RODRIGO DE LLAMAS. Rodrigo era hijo de SANCHO DE LLAMAS y de ALDONZA RODRIGUEZ naturales de Caravaca, Murcia y se embarco en el Puerto de Palos, Andalucia, junto con sus hijos ALONSO Y GINES. Es probable que Rodrigo haya sido viudo pues no se anota en Catalogo de Pasajeros a Indias, como era costumbre, el nombre de la esposa.
Los datos del viaje los cita el CATALOGO DE PASAJEROS A INDIAS en sus tres versiones traducidas por Cristobal Bermudez Plata, por el Personal Facultativo del Archivo General de Indias y por Luis Romero Iruela: "el 25 de Junio de 1526 se embarco en el Puerto de Palos, Andalucia, con destino a la Nueva España RODRIGO DE LLAMAS acompañado de sus dos hijos varones ALONSO y GINES. RODRIGO era hijo de SANCHO DE LLAMAS y de ALDONZA RODRIGUEZ, vecinos de Caravaca, Murcia".
El conocimiento que se tiene de que en el siglo XVIII en Colotlan, Jalisco habia un nucleo importante de personas de apellido LLAMAS emparentadas con las de Tlaltenango, y por otro lado el casamiento de XAVIERA DE LLAMAS DE AVILA con un vecino de Chimaltitan, Jalisco, hace suponer que esas familias habian principiado a formarse en el siglo XVII o tla vez en el siglo XVI, por lo que puede plantearse la hipotesis de que el progenitor haya sido don MATHIAS DE LLAMAS que en 1568 era propietario de una estancia en San Miguel de Cocula, Jalisco, segun relata Fray Antonio Tello en su "Cronica Miscelanea de la Sancta Provincia de Xalisco". (es posible que MATHIAS DE LLAMAS haya sido nieto de RODRIGO DE LLAMAS)
La investigacion delos documentos eclesiasticos permitio localizar los registros de 367 partidas; 221 de buatismos (1653-1922), 100 de matrimonios (1717-1931) y 46 de fallecimientos (1796-1960).
Como resultado del analisisw del material se determino que pertenecen a familiares 175 de bautismos (1798-1922), 75 de matrimonios (1796--1929) y 40 de fallecimientos (1796-1960). La diferencia corresponde a registros de personas con las que no se pudo establecer el lazo familiar, incluyendo a las que tomaron el apellido arbitrariamente.
Con los datos contenidos en las partidas se logro ubicar en el Arbol Genealogico a 190 personas de apellido LLAMAS, asi como a 101 consortes. Tambien se localizaron 59 familiares con apellidos LLAMAS en segundo lugar y a siete conyuges.
En jerez se registraron nacimientos de personas con apellido LLAMAS desde los documentos mas antiguos que se conservan en el Archivo eclesiastico y que datan de 1650, pero no llegan a constituirse en familias permanentes, como es el caso de LUIS DE LLAMAS (*)casado con Josepha del Rio, que procrearon a Maria Paula de la Luz en 1768 y a Joseph Salome en 1776. Los demas nacimientos que se presentaron procedian de indigenas originarios de los ranchos denominado San Miguel, Susticcacan, La Cienega, Los de Haro, El Tambor, Los Rodarte, El Molino, Niño de Jesus, Los de Salas y Juan Blanco, los cuales tomaban un apellido al azar y al cabo de una o dos generaciones lo olvidaban cambiandolo por otro, generalmente por el de su nuevo patron.
Con base en los resultados de la investigacion de los archivos eclesiasticos de la parroquia de Jerez, y a los datos contenidos en el Archivo de la Familia Llamas, que me fue heredado por mi tia MARIA LLAMAS DEL HOYO, fue posible estructurar la base del arbol genealogico, en el que figuraban como iniciadores de la familia los hermanos FRANCISCO, XAVIERA y MARIA ANTONIA DE LLAMAS QUE LLEGARON A LA Villa de Xerez procedentes de Tlaltenango, Zac. (por el año de 1785, probablemente acompañado de sus padres; fundando asi el primer solar jerezano de la FAMILIA LLAMAS.
(*) Probablemente sea la misma persona que fue padrino de matrimonio de XAVIERA DE LLAMAS, se es asi, se trata de un pariente muy cercano de DON ANTONIO DE LLAMAS.
El complemento del nucleo familiar lo componia doña MARIA ANNA URSUA esposa de FRANCISCO y los menores FRANCISCO, DIONISIO (Dionisio contrajo matrimonio con la Srita. Lina Escobedo y tuvieron 2 hijos de nombre Hilario y Pedro nacido en el año de 1818) E IRINEO. Este ultimo contrajo matrimonio con su novia de Tlaltenango, la señorita Maria Guadalupe Roman de Arellano el 13 de Agosto de 1796 y el 16 de Julio de 1798 nace JUAN JOSE ALEJO ISIDRO, que fue el primer jerezano de la familia LLAMAS.
La esposa de FRANCISCO, Maria Anna Ursua, fallecio en Jerez el 13 de junio de 1796 y alos cuatro meses del deceso se le otorgo permiso eclesiastico a FRANCISCO para contraer matromonio con la jerezana Maria Clara de Acevedo. Del nuevo matrimonio nacieron dos hijos varones JUAN ANTONIO y JOSE ANTONIO que murio en su infancia, y un mujer, MARIA ANTONIA.

Para establecer bases solidas que permitan emprender una investigacion seria sobre el origen de la FAMILIA LLAMAS, se requiere estudiar el archivo eclesiastico de Tlaltenango, el de Colotlan, Jalisco y lugares aledaños, ya que sus resultados indicaran el camino a seguir.
Para encontrar a los ascendientes de FRANCISCO, XAVIERA Y MARIA ANTONIETA, se procedio a estudiar en el archivo de la parroquia de Tlaltenango, los microfilmes de los documentos correspondientes a Informacion Matrimonial de 1701 a 1757 y Matrimonios de 1704 a 1803, teniendo la suerte de encontrar la partida de matrimonio de XAVIERA en donde se consigna el nombre de sus padres, que son ahora el TRONCO o base del Arbol Genealogico de LA FAMILIA LLAMAS.
Tambien se hizo una investigacion rapida en el archivo eclesiastico de Tlaltenango habiendo logrado encontrar la partida de matrimonio de XAVIERA DE LLAMAS, en donde se consigna el nombre de sus padres, que son ahora el tronco familiar: ANTONIO DE LLAMAS Y MARIA ALEJANDRA DE AVILA.
Con la investigacion de Tlaltenango se logro saber que ya a mediados del siglo XVIII existia un nucleo importante de personas con apellido LLAMAS, por lo que es de suponserse que las familias se principiaron a formar en los siglos XVI y XVII. Ademas, que el universo en que se desarrollaban comprendia algunas poblaciones del Estado de Jalisco, entre las que se contaba Colotlan, por lo que es posible que el progenitor haya sido MATHIAS DE LLAMAS, quien en 1568 era propietario de una estancia en San Miguel Cocula, Jalisco.
